I did some experiments with Magenta’s density-conditioned configuration. My aim was to generate something that has less “keyboard-bashing” and more of the interesting harmonies performance-RNN makes.
These samples are conditioned with density between 2 and 4 notes per second. The result is some quite passable background noodling!
